Pleiku Airport planning proposed

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has proposed to the Ministry of Transport the planning of Pleiku Airport expansion in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai for approval.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has proposed to the Ministry of Transport the planning of Pleiku Airport expansion in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai for approval.

Under the recommendation, during the 2021-2030 period, the airport will be used for military and civilian purposes with an annual capacity of 4 million passengers and 4,500 tonnes of cargo.

The airport will have 14 parking aprons to serve aircraft A320/A321 and equivalent and smaller ones.

By 2050, the airport’s yearly capacity will be raised to 5 million passengers, 12,000 tonnes of cargo, and 18 aprons.

The CAAV has asked the Ministry of Transport to work with Gia Lai authorities to update the Pleiku Airport planning into the province’s Master Plan by 2045.

Pleiku Airport, located in Thong Nhat Ward, has a 2,400-metre runway and five aprons. It can serve 600,000 passengers annually.
