Under the proposal by Thua Thien-Hue Province, the Ministry of Transport have agreed to temporarily suspend flights from the province to HCM City from today, July 5.

The Ministry of Transport also approved the suspension of flights from Thanh Hoa and Quang Nam provinces to HCM City from July 4.
However, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has been asked to consider the operation of special flights which transport medical workers and equipment for the Covid-19 fight based on the proposals by management agencies and airlines.
To date, flights from HCM City to Haiphong, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh, Gia Lai, Kien Giang, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue have been suspended.
At an online meeting with representatives from key southern economic zones, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that HCM City’s Covid-19 situation remains complicated and unpredictable. He urged more drastic measures from the city to deal with the problem.
HCM City has overtaken the northern province of Bac Giang to become the largest hotspot in Vietnam, recording hundreds of new cases on a daily basis. The city has to date confirmed more than 6,000 new cases during the latest outbreak since late April.
