A man died after being hit by a train while attempting to cross an unofficial railway crossing on the North-South railway line in Chien Dan Commune, Danang, on the afternoon of September 22.

According to local authorities, the accident occurred at around 3 pm when the 36-year-old victim, a resident of Thanh Hoa Village in Chien Dan Commune, was riding a motorcycle across a local access road intersecting the railway.
The impact threw both the man and his motorcycle a considerable distance. Authorities said the victim's body was found approximately 60 metres from the point of collision, while the motorcycle was thrown nearly 300 metres away.
Train services were temporarily halted for about 20 minutes while emergency personnel dealt with the incident.
Footage recorded by a nearby residential security camera showed the train sounding its horn repeatedly before the collision. Initial information indicated that the steep approach to the crossing may have prevented the motorcycle from clearing the tracks in time.
The accident occurred at an unofficial crossing on the North-South railway line. The location is among a number of unauthorised crossings scheduled for closure under a railway safety programme, with work expected to be completed during the third quarter.
More than a month earlier, another fatal railway accident occurred on the same rail corridor in Tam Xuan Commune, Danang, when a 46-year-old man was struck and killed by a train while standing near the railway embankment.
