A magnitude 3.2 earthquake struck Quang Ngai Province in the early hours of September 22, marking the eighth earthquake recorded in central Vietnam within two days.
According to the Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Centre under the Institute of Earth Sciences, the quake occurred at 2.06 am local time at a focal depth of approximately 8.3 kilometres.
The earthquake was recorded in Mang But Commune, Quang Ngai Province. Authorities assessed the event at disaster risk level 0, indicating no significant threat.
The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Centre said it is continuing to monitor seismic activity in the area.
The latest tremor followed seven earthquakes recorded on September 21 in Quang Ngai Province and Danang. Those earthquakes measured between magnitude 2.6 and 3.0 and occurred at focal depths ranging from approximately 8.1 to 8.3 kilometres.
All seven earthquakes were classified at disaster risk level 0.
The Earthquake Information and Tsunami Warning Centre said monitoring efforts remain ongoing as seismic activity continues in the region.
