HCM City Police announced on November 3 that they had taken custody of the 22 citizens following their deportation from the US.
This was the seventh such reception this year. The process was carried out in accordance with legal regulations, with due regard for diplomatic requirements, security, safety and the lawful rights and interests of the citizens.

According to the Immigration Department of HCM City Police, most of the deportees had lived in HCM City before leaving Vietnam. While in the US, they violated local laws and no longer qualified for legal residency, leading to their deportation and handover to Vietnamese authorities.
Many face considerable difficulties upon returning home, including a lack of personal documents, lost contact with relatives, no stable place to live, obstacles to finding work and reintegrating into society, as well as psychological pressure.
HCM City Police said they had reviewed and assessed each individual's circumstances to determine appropriate support measures.

The police advised Vietnamese citizens travelling abroad for study, work, tourism or permanent settlement to familiarise themselves with and strictly comply with both Vietnamese law and the laws of their host countries.
They also warned against illegal entry or exit, unauthorised residence or employment, the use of forged documents, and involvement in human smuggling networks.
