Ill family calls for help to overcome hardships

A poor man in Ben Tre Province is calling for financial support to help provide treatment for his wife who is suffering from cancer and their two children with malnutrition.

Mai Thanh Lan and Vo Minh Quang have two children together. However, both of their sons who are seven and five years olds are malnourished. Lan is weak since birth so she can't work hard. Quang also has a congenital heart disease but he still works as a bricklayer to support the family.

Unfortunately, while bringing their children to the hospital, Lan suddenly felt a sharp pain and was diagnosed to be in the last stages of leukaemia.

Quang has borrowed everywhere to treat his wife and struggle to keep their children in school. Their house is dilapidated and has nothing valuable. They tried to give Lan blood transfusion but were only able to afford to stay for one day at the hospital.

"We were struggling to have daily meals before. Now my wife can't be cured and we're incurring huge debts," Quang said.

Nguyen Van Dung, head of Long Van Hamlet said, "Quang's family is one of the hamlet's poor households for years and now their lives have got harder. We hope they will get help from the community."
