The An Giang Border Guard Command said on September 28 that a sack containing approximately 20kg of suspected narcotics had been found drifting onto the coast of Phu Quoc special zone.

At around 11.30 am on September 27, a patrol team from Ganh Dau Border Guard Station spotted a suspicious sack wrapped tightly in yellow adhesive tape along the shoreline of Ganh Dau ward.
Upon inspection, officers found 20 green nylon packages resembling tea packets, each marked with the code “1688”. The packages contained white crystalline substances with a combined weight of about 20kg.
The discovery came only two days after another similar incident in the same area.
At around 8.40 am on September 25, local authorities received a report about a package that had washed ashore on Ganh Dau Beach. Officers from Ganh Dau Border Guard Station, working with Phu Quoc police, examined the package and found 20 suspected drug packages weighing about 20kg in total.
The two discoveries mean that authorities recovered roughly 40kg of suspected narcotics from the same stretch of coastline within a three-day period.
The seized materials have been handed over to An Giang Provincial Police for further investigation and handling in accordance with the law.
In response to the repeated appearance of suspicious packages along coastal areas, the An Giang Border Guard Command has alerted border guard units in other provinces and relevant agencies to strengthen coordination and surveillance.
Border guard stations have been instructed to increase patrols along coastal and island areas while working with local authorities to encourage residents, particularly fishermen, to immediately report any suspicious objects found at sea or along the shoreline.
