Hanoi traffic police said on Monday morning that from September 17 to September 23, the unit had handled more than 8,400 cases involving breaches of traffic order and road safety regulations. Police impounded more than 1,800 vehicles, suspended driving licences in 60 cases and deducted points from more than 1,200 licences.

Among the violations recorded were more than 1,400 cases of drink-driving on roads and more than 200 cases involving overloaded vehicles or illegally modified cargo bodies.
During the same period, the AI camera system installed across Hanoi detected and issued violation notices in more than 4,000 traffic cases.
The offences included more than 2,100 cases of driving the wrong way on roads marked with no-entry signs; nearly 1,400 cases of failing to wear helmets; 162 cases of running red lights; more than 200 cases of stopping or parking in prohibited areas; and 22 cases of unlawfully picking up or dropping off passengers.
