The damage was found near the Buong River in Phuoc Tan Ward, according to the management board overseeing Component 1 of the expressway project.
A crack about 40 metres long has appeared along the road, with parts of the embankment showing signs of subsidence towards the river.
The affected section forms part of the approach to the Buong River bridge, where the road embankment is about 8.7 metres above the natural ground level.
The project owner said the crack had not widened or lengthened, while no further subsidence had been recorded.
Design consultants have begun geological drilling to determine the cause and recommend repairs. The project owner said a solution would be chosen after the survey results were available to ensure the stability and safety of the road.
A 60-kph speed limit has been imposed through the affected section.
Contractors temporarily sealed the cracks on September 30 and plan to remove the damaged asphalt, reinforce the area with geotextile and resurface the road on September 30 and October 1.
The surrounding section is also being inspected for further damage.
