Hanoi will organise firework performances at three locations including Hoan Kiem Lake, Thong Nhat Park and My Dinh Stadium for 15 minutes on New Year's Eve.

Locations with good views have been booked out for the night. Many cafe bars, restaurants and hotels in Hanoi also quickly joined the trend and issued timely promotions.

Thao Linh from Hoan Kiem District said she had spent nearly VND1.6m (USD69) per person for a good view seat near Hoan Kiem Lake. She went on to say that this seat was not the most expensive yet. A VIP outdoor seat cost nearly VND1.9m. "I wanted to book outdoor seats for my family but they were all full. I was told that there were only 20 indoor seats left," she said.

Many cafe bars near the West Lake also offer a seat for VND1.980,000 (USD85). The customers will be served light food and champagne for the night. Besides VIP seats, the restaurants also offer regular seats for VND980,000 per person.

Less luxury bars and restaurants offer each seat for VND300,000 (USD13) to VND600,000. Some cafe bars only require VND250,000 per person and offer free food for children below five years old.

A cafe bar on the 65th floor on Kim Ma Street said customers must arrive early or else they will run out of all seats soon. They will still allow customers to enter to stand and watch the fireworks though. According to an employee, it's best to book first. The booking price is VND1.2m (USD52) per person, including light food and drinks.
