Hanoi People’s Committee has requested that Ba Dinh District and the local Department of Construction work with investors of the Discovery Complex II building at 8B Le Truc Street to remove the additional construction that violates their planning.

Hanoi's authorities have also instructed the Department of Construction to further investigate and report on the responsibilities of the investors and relevant agencies and individuals which had licensed and inspected the project.

The Discovery Complex II building includes 12 storeys of apartments and offices. The project, invested by the Le Truc Garment Joint Stock Company, covers 5,600 square metres and is being offered for sale and rent.

Earlier, following a request from PM Nguyen Tan Dung to inspect the project, local authorities admitted to failures in the inspection of the building and vowed to work with the investor to resolve the issue.

In a recent report submitted to the prime minister, the local authorities admitted they had not inspected construction frequently and were not strict enough in dealing with the violations.

The government's 2013 Hanoi plan ruled that any project built within the Ba Dinh Administrative and Political Centre, which includes the Government's Office, the Vietnam Communist Party’s Central Office and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, must not exceed 11 storeys.
