International arrivals from traditional markets including France, the United States, Germany, Britain and Australia continued to grow, while Canada and China recorded the fastest increases.

From September, the Imperial Citadel is expected to open regularly at night, with cultural performances, traditional arts, cuisine and visitor activities held at sites including the Noi Vu Palace, Thieu Phuong Garden, Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theatre and Co Ha Garden.

Officials hope the programme will extend visitors' stays, increase tourism spending and support the city's night-time economy.

Hue is also promoting its brand as a heritage, cultural and night-time tourism destination while expanding eco-tourism, community-based tourism, craft village experiences and river tours.

The city has already achieved nearly 60 per cent of its target of attracting 7.3-7.5 million visitors this year and aims to generate VND 20 trillion (around USD 760 million) in tourism revenue.
