Strong storm Nock-Ten with gales blowing up to 88kph, which is now 440 kilometres east of Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago of Vietnam, is predicted to affect the northern part of the nation as of early Saturday.

Within 24 coming hours, it is moving westward 15-20 kph, according to the Central Hydrometeorology Centre.
Tomorrow morning, the eye of the typhoon will be around 170km east of Hainan island of China with gusts speeding up to 117kph.
The centre forecasts coastal areas of Vietnam and the Northern Gulf will see severely rough seas and heavy raining with rainfall up to 300-400mm a day as of Saturday and lasting for four days.
The middle and southern part of East Sea, including Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago, will also be indirectly affected with rain and gales and choppy seas.
Vietnam has reported the news of storm to 24,500 fishing boats of Vietnam offshore on East Sea to find shelters, according to the Steering Committee for Flood, Storm and Rescue under Vietnam Coastguard Force.
The committee chief and minister Cao Duc Phat has also recommended provinces to prepare for possible sudden floods and check dikes and hydroelectricity plants’ reservoirs.
