Hung made the statement during a two-day meeting with voters in Central Gia Lai Province, which wrapped up yesterday.
During the two day event, voters were given a chance to raise their concerns regarding developing the local economy, alleviating poverty, education and training.
Attention was drawn to helping locals alleviate poverty caused by specific regional characteristics.
The NA chairman called on the local government to exert more efforts in developing a rural area with better organised household economies, farms and craft villages while creating conditions to help locals step up production.
Despite the excellent results achieved by Jrai minorities in elevating their living conditions, Hung voiced his concerns over the remaining poor households as well as substandard vocational training and education, which have hampered socio-economic development.
He urged district authorities and businesses employing local labourers to open schools and run extra classes in an attempt to raise general knowledge, improve productivity and product quality.
The Central Highlands must take advantage of its potential, especially its youthful labour resources. To do so, the region needed to strengthen investment in education and vocational training to improve labour quality among locals, the chairman said.
At a meeting with local authorities, Hung applauded efforts aimed at maintaining high socio-economic growth and poverty alleviation.
