Additional 111,640 Covid-19 infections announced on Tuesday

Vietnam has reported an additional 111,640 Covid-19 infections on Tuesday, raising the national tally to 9.38 million, according to the Ministry of Health.

According to the ministry's report, most of the new patients are locally-transmitted cases confirmed in all 63 localities in the country with five localities seeing the highest numbers including Hanoi (8,993), Phu Tho (4,302), Bac Giang (4,047), Nghe An (3,817), and Yen Bai (3,232). Quang Ninh and Binh Dinh provinces today added 17,600 and 5,662 more cases respectively to the national tally.

As of Tuesday evening, the number of Covid-19 patients in Vietnam has increased to 9,386,489. The country now stands 14th among 225 countries and territories worldwide in the number of infections. Some localities that have recorded the highest number of patients include Hanoi (1,458,587), HCM City (592,677), Nghe An (384,741), Binh Duong (374,529), and Hai Duong (339,411).

On March 29, an additional 1,679,138 more patients recovered from the disease, raising the number of recoveries in the country to 7,153,846.

On Tuesday evening, a further 55 deaths related to Covid-19 were announced, bringing the total number of fatalities in Vietnam to 42,306. The high fatalities were reported in some localities including An Giang (4), Bac Lieu (4), Binh Duong (4), Dong Nai (4), Kien Giang (4), Quang Ninh (4), Gia Lai (3), and Lang Son (3).

Vietnam on March 28 administered 279,038 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, raising the total number of doses given to local people to over 205.49 million.
