The project is the first to receive funding from the German government, and of its total investment of over VND3.5 billion, 90 percent has been supplied by the German government.
Under the project, solar panels will be installed in Song Hoai square, capable of producing 51kWh for lighting and decorations for entertainment activities like street arts, folk games, decorative lanterns, and the Cau bridge relic.
Nguyen Van Son, vice chairman of Hoi An City’s People’s Committee said the project has contributed to promoting cooperative relations between Hoi An and Wernigerode, as well as with the German government.
It has also helped to encourage the use of environmentally friendly renewable energy sources to mitigate the effects of climate change and develop Hoi An into an eco-culture-tourism city in the near future, Son said.
