Dantri/Dtinews honoured with PM’s Certificate of Merit on 20th anniversary

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has awarded a Certificate of Merit to Dantri/Dtinews Online Newspaper in recognition of its outstanding contributions, as the publication marks its 20th anniversary.

At the commemorative ceremony held in Hanoi on July 15, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Head of the Central Emulation and Commendation Board, read the Prime Minister’s decision, which praised Dantri/Dtinews for its exceptional achievements in charitable work that have improved the lives of people in remote and disadvantaged areas, while contributing positively to national development and protection.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Le Quoc Minh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vice Chairman of the Party’s Central Propaganda and Education Commission, and Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, presented the award to Dantri/Dtinews' leadership.

Delivering the opening address, Editor-in-Chief Pham Tuan Anh recalled Dantri/Dtinews' humble beginnings in 2005 as an online news portal under the Vietnam Association for Promoting Education, with a noble mission: to serve as a bridge for knowledge, to inspire compassion, and to unlock the potential of the Vietnamese people.

“After two decades, Dantri has grown into one of Vietnam’s leading online newspapers, reaching over 162 million global readers annually and recording 4.15 billion page views each year,” Pham shared. “These figures reflect not only our achievements, but also the deep trust and loyalty of our readers. Yet what we value most is not the numbers, but the human values we have consistently delivered.”

He affirmed that Dantri is now ready to enter a new phase of development, with a strong focus on digital transformation and editorial innovation. As of March 1, 2025, the newspaper officially operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs. “We recognise the responsibility of conveying public policy in a clear, objective, accessible and accountable way,” Pham noted.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha congratulated Dantri on two decades of accomplishments. She noted that the newspaper was founded during a pivotal period of national reform and global integration, just before the 10th National Party Congress.

From its origins as an education-focused site, Dantri has evolved into a trusted news source for millions of readers at home and abroad. The paper pioneered the nationwide Vietnamese Talent Awards, promoting education and innovation across the country.

Deputy Minister Ha also highlighted Dantri/Dtinews' commitment to social responsibility: “Dantri has connected people from all walks of life, from compassionate donors to those in need. Through initiatives such as building charity homes, rural bridges, schools and providing health insurance, Dantri has demonstrated deep humanity and a strong sense of civic duty.”

“With its new status as the official media outlet of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Dantri is entering a new chapter, one that is more closely aligned with public administration, institutional reform and national service,” she added.

Also during the ceremony, Dantri reported progress on its project to build 200 homes for disadvantaged families nationwide. To date, 180 homes have been completed and handed over.

The newspaper received further funding commitments at the event and announced that the final 20 houses will begin construction immediately, with the goal of completing all homes by August 31, in accordance with the Prime Minister’s directive.

Dantri also unveiled a new logo that builds on its core values while embracing a modern, dynamic spirit. The redesign reflects the paper’s ambition for sustainable growth and its aspiration to reach new heights, reaffirming the unique character that has earned it two decades of reader loyalty.
