Dong Nai accelerates resident relocation for urban area project

The southern province of Dong Nai is accelerating the relocation of residents in Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park to make way for an urban, commercial, and service development.

In mid-July, the Dong Nai People’s Committee instructed concerned agencies to expedite the relocation of households, factories, and businesses from Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park.

More than 200 households have agreed to relocate and begun clearing their land. Many businesses have also suspended operations and are prepared to leave the area as planned, with the relocation expected to be completed by year’s end.

For nearly a month, households along Le Van Duyet Street in Tran Bien Ward have been relocating and moving their belongings. Dozens of cranes and machines are helping dismantle structures to hand over the land to the provincial Land Development Centre.

Small trucks and three-wheeled vehicles enter and exit Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park to transport belongings. Many households have also contacted scrap buyers to sell steel frames, tin roofs, and other reusable materials.

According to the Dong Nai People’s Committee, since May 22, two more businesses have begun dismantling and relocating their factories, 12 have suspended operations in preparation for relocation, and 21 have committed to following the province’s relocation plan.

The Dong Nai Land Development Centre said that the province will reclaim about 310 hectares from Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park to build a new political-administrative centre and an urban, commercial, and service area.

Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park currently has nearly 46 hectares of cleared land. The site clearance is expected to be completed by late this year. Established in 1963, Bien Hoa 1 Industrial Park covers about 330 hectares and hosts nearly 70 businesses. In early 2024, the province approved the plan to convert the area into an urban, commercial, and service zone.
