Located in Bong Lai 1 Hamlet, Bo Trach Commune, about 9km from the Phong Nha-Ke Bang tourism centre, the 1.3-hectare farm sits beside a branch of the Son River.

Surrounded by acacia-covered hills and quiet countryside, the area, known locally as Bong Lai valley, is valued for its fresh air, scenic landscape and peaceful atmosphere.

Opened three months ago by Tran Quoc Hoan, 34, the farm blends agriculture with tourism, offering visitors, particularly international travellers, a hands-on glimpse of rural Vietnamese life.

One of the main attractions is duck herding, where visitors scatter feed as dozens of trained ducks rush towards them when called, creating a lively scene.

A highlight is the so-called “duck massage”, in which ducks gently peck at feed placed on visitors, creating a ticklish and amusing sensation.

“I really enjoyed herding buffalo and fishing here. The ducks are adorable, I even got a massage from them. It was wonderful,” said Susie Stubbs, 27, from the United Kingdom.

Other activities include fishing, feeding buffalo and watching animals perform simple commands. Farm owners said all animals are trained, vaccinated and kept clean to ensure hygiene and safety.

Foreign male tourists take part in fishing activities at the farm.

Visitors also enjoy interacting with ducklings, while the rural setting offers a contrast to urban life.
