Thai Ho Phuong, director of the Hanoi Traffic Management and Operations Centre, said residents would continue to travel free of charge on buses and metro services during the five-day break.
The plan aims to meet rising travel demand, ensure safety and security on bus routes, at stations, coach terminals, termini and interchange points, and help ease traffic congestion.
During the holiday, bus services will operate from 4.30 am to 10.30 pm.
The two urban rail lines, 2A (Cat Linh - Ha Dong) and 3.1 (Nhon - Hanoi Station, elevated section), will both run from 5.30 am to 10 pm, with services every 10 minutes throughout the holiday.

To cope with any surge in demand, Hanoi has prepared plans to reinforce 20 bus routes, with 42 standby vehicles and about 100 additional bus trips.
Other operators will position reserve vehicles on routes linking coach terminals, interchange points, stations and large urban areas.
The Hanoi Traffic Management and Operations Centre has been assigned to coordinate with transport companies, monitor passenger flows and respond proactively to any incidents.
