Hanoi will strengthen public transport services during the five-day National Day holiday from August 29 to September 2, 2026, to accommodate higher passenger demand and help reduce traffic congestion.

According to the Hanoi Public Transport Management and Operation Centre, the city’s bus network will operate daily from 4.30 am to 10.30 pm throughout the holiday period.
The number of bus services will remain at a high level, ranging from approximately 17,335 to 17,645 trips per day. Depending on the route and time of day, bus frequencies will vary between five and 30 minutes.
For urban rail services, the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line is expected to operate 203 train trips per day, while the elevated section of the Nhon-Hanoi Railway Station line will run 200 trips daily.
Both metro lines will operate from 5.30 am to 10 pm, with trains running at intervals of around 10 minutes under weekend and public holiday schedules.
With passenger numbers expected to rise at bus stations, railway terminals and transfer hubs during the holiday, the city has prepared contingency plans to deploy additional vehicles when necessary.
Around 100 extra bus trips will be added across 20 key routes. In addition, 42 standby buses will be stationed at transport operators and can be put into service if demand surges.
The reinforced routes will mainly serve major transport hubs, including My Dinh, Nuoc Ngam, Giap Bat, Gia Lam and Yen Nghia bus stations.
Several routes linking popular tourist destinations will also receive additional services, including Route 47A to the Bat Trang pottery village and Route 74 to the Xuan Khanh Lake area.
Transport operators, including Transerco, Hanoi Tram Company, Bao Yen, Lien Ninh, Newway, Ha Tay and VinBus, have been instructed to ensure sufficient vehicles and personnel, maintain standby arrangements and be ready to increase services when required.
