This year, the Vietnamese Talents Awards has honoured some of the most outstanding ideas and achievements in IT, science and health.
For 10 years, Vietnamese Talents Awards has been nursing dreams and realising ideas as well as honouring the work of inventors from across the country. The top winners are granted a trophy and VND100 million. Nguyen Thien Nhan, the chair of the Central Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front, said this year awards reaffirmed the creative potential of Vietnamese people. On the occasion of Teachers' Day, he expressed gratitude to the million plus teachers who are working to foster talent, as well as the million retired teachers.

This year, the winner in the Potential IT category was New Generation Open Source Technology JSC, with the professional integrated management network for services and infrastructure. The product can sync pretty much everything on an intranet system, balancing internet traffic, adjusting firewalls, and managing service charges.

The 1st prize in the Successful IT category went to the 8-bit SG8V1 chip developed by the Integrated Circuits Design Research & Education Center (ICDREC) of the National University HCMC. This multi-purpose chip can be used for products in various fields such as agriculture, industry, transport and national defense.

The 1st prize in Applied Science for Mobile Phones category was given to ZooStudio for their app MoneyLover-Personal Financial Management.
The two runners-up were VDC-CA Mobile group and Applied Technical System Company for their products, Public Key Infastructure on Mobile Phone (Mobile PKI) - VNPT-mCA and the Integrated Control and Protection System @Station for the operation of transmission and distribution substations.
Runners-up in IT category
Three products won third place in the IT category, including a human resource management app (VNResource HRM Pro) which can analyse and create plans for managing personnel and remuneration policies. Also taking third place were a restaurant management system (OpenWay POS) and a product to collect DICOM image collecting (PACS system) and give online medical consulting.
Honourable mentions were given to six other products.

In the Medical and Health category, the first prize winner was professor Le Thi Luan, deputy head of Centre for the Research and Production of Vaccine and Biologicals (Polyvac). Her work on rota virus infection and the manufacturing of a vaccine has made Vietnam become the second country in Asia and fourth in the world with the capacity to self-produce.
Second place went to professor Tran Ngoc Luong, vice director of National Hospital of Endocrinology for his work on endoscopic thyroid surgery, which is considered pioneering. This technique costs USD400 compared to the average USD7,000-10,000, Luong transferred the technique to doctors in various countries such as Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, India and Indonesia.

The winner in the Science and Technology category was Dr. Hoang Duc Thao for his work on the development of thin prefabricated concrete. For many years, this technology has been widely applied in construction projects across the country.

The winner in the Environment category was Pham Hong Diep, the outstanding activist and pioneer who convinced local people and authorities to build a green residential area in Thuy Nguyen District, Haiphong City.

A prize to encourage and promote talent went to Vu Dinh Phuc. He is a member of Study Promotion Association in Lam Dong Province and created a machine that transform agriculture waste into bio-fertilizer.

Pham Huy Hoan, editor-in-chief of DTiNews and head organiser of the awards gave his thanks for the attention of the president and prime minister. He said, "We recognise the contributions of professor Nguyen Van Hieu, head of the judge panel as well as the other judges, scientists and experts in the Ministry of Health and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology over the past nine years. This is the first year an award was given to encourage and promote talent. This was also the first year of cooperation with professor Dang Vu Minh, chairman of Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations."
