Hanoi- Lunar New Year’s Eve firework displays

31 locations for firework displays on Lunar New Year’s Eve in Hanoi. Each show will last for 15 minutes (from 0 am until 0.15 am on).

9 high-range firework shooting locations:

Location 1: Hoan Kiem district (at Hoan Kiem lake, in front of Hanoimoi editorial office).
Location 2: Ba Dinh district (at the south-east side of Ngoc Khanh lake, Ngoc Khanh ward).
Location 3: Dong Da district (at Hoang Cau Lake, O Cho Dua ward).
Location 4: Hai Ba Trung district (near Ho Chi Minh & Ton Duc Thang statues, Thong Nhat park, Le Dai Hanh ward).
Location 5: Tay Ho district (at Lac Long Quan park – in front of the district’s people committee building).
Location 6: Ha Dong district (at Van Quan lake, Van Quan ward).
Location 7: Nam Tu Liem district (at Thanh Tich park, inside My Dinh national sports complex, My Dinh ward).
Location 8: Long Bien district (at Harmony lake, Vinhomes Riverside, Viet Hung ward).
Location 9: Son Tay town (at Son Tay Old Fortress, Son Tay provincial town).

Location 11: Cau Giay district (at Cau Giay park, Dich Vong ward).
Location 12: Hoang Mai district (at Den Lu park, Hoang Van Thu ward).
Location 13: Thanh Xuan district (at Nhan Chinh park, Nhan Chinh ward).
Location 14: Bac Tu Liem (near Pheo river bridge, Minh Khai district).
Location 15: Gia Lam district (at 31ha urban area, Trau Quy town).
Location 16: Dong Anh district (at the district’s central stadium, Dong Anh town).
Location 17: Soc Son district (at the district’s stadium, Soc Son town).
Location 18: Me Linh district (at the rooftop of the district’s people’s committee building, Dai Thinh ward).

A fun playground of 36 Vietnamese painters and sculptors to celebrate New Year 2018 and our Lunar New Year Mau Tuat (Year of the Dog). Opening will have a special video art, music and performances of Tri Minh, Do Thanh Son, Le Quoc Hung and Vu Nhat Tan.

The geological term ‘alluvium’ – embodying in itself a sense of movement – refers to the sedimentary matter washed onshore by flowing bodies of water.



HCMC-Traditional calligraphy markets

Two traditional calligraphy markets will be held at the Youth Cultural House and the Labour Cultural House in District 1

Featuring more than 50 calligraphers who are members of calligraphy clubs in the city and neighbouring provinces.

Each calligraphy work is priced from VNĐ30,000 to VNĐ200,000 (US$1.3-8.8), depending on the craftsmanship, size and materials. Large works are VNĐ400,000 ($17.6) or more.

This year, the market has offered products in leather like wallets and handbags. They are painted with images of landscapes, flowers, mascots and pets, priced from VNĐ50,000 ($2.2).

Hanoi- Vietnamese New Year Festival

Imperial Citadel of Thăng Long, 19C Hoang Dieu, Ba Dinh

Featuring archives of the French museum Albert Kahn, and wood carvings by Henri Oger that depict traditional Tết rituals and ceremonies. There are also traditional games and performances, and traditional paintings of different genres such as Đông Hồ, Hàng Trống, Kim Hoàng. Several other rituals, ceremonies and cultural performances will also take place.

Hanoi- Calligraphy Exhibition “Stroke of Spring – Art of Nôm”

Vietnam Fine Arts Museum, 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc Street

An exhibition of 50 calligraphy works by authors and researchers of calligraphy and Nôm – a logographic writing system formerly used to write the Vietnamese language – inspired by poems about the New Year and Spring by the late President Ho Chi Minh and famous figures such as Tran Nhan Tong, Nguyen Trai, Nguyen Huy Luong, Nguyen Du,… There will be calligraphy demonstrations and a calligraphy workshop for pupil at the opening of the exhibition.

Hanoi- Calligraphy Fair 2018

An annual event taking place at Literature Lake (part of the Temple of Literature) which offers live calligraphy demonstration, hands-on experience of Vietnam’s traditional crafts, folk games and other cultural activities.
