Thanks to the support of Dantri readers and dedicated medical staff, three-year-old Ly A Vu, an ethnic H'mong boy who suffered severe burns over 48 per cent of his body, has narrowly escaped death and returned home to his family.

Vu, from Muong Ang District in Dien Bien Province, sustained life-threatening injuries after falling into a pot of hot food being prepared for pigs. With no money to cover the cost of treatment, his family rushed him to the National Burn Hospital and appealed to Dantri for help.

Just a short time after Vu's story was published, Dantri readers donated VND 257,593,201 (approximately USD 10,100), which was promptly transferred to the family to cover his urgent medical expenses. In addition, donors visited Vu at the hospital and contributed a further VND 65 million (approximately USD 2,550) in person.

Thanks to the tireless efforts of doctors and nurses and the compassion of Dantri's readership, Vu, once in critical condition, has now recovered. His burns have dried, his skin is healing, and he has been discharged from the hospital and reunited with his loved ones.

Vu has been discharged from the hospital and reunited with his family.

Ly A Lu, Vu's father, shared with Dantri in a choked voice, "If it hadn't been for the doctors and Dantri readers, my son wouldn't be alive today. I don't know who these people are or where they come from, but thousands sent money and blessings. My family is poor, but today I know we're not alone, we're not abandoned."

His eyes shone with gratitude, not only for the financial aid but also for the overwhelming kindness and humanity surrounding and protecting his child.

Hoang Anh Duong, a staff member of the Social Work Department at the National Burn Hospital, expressed her emotion:"I've seen many heartbreaking burn cases, but Vu's is truly a fairytale in real life. And those who wrote this beautiful ending are none other than the readers of Dantri."

According to Duong, Vu underwent several major and minor surgeries and endured an extended hospital stay. What touched the medical team most, she said, was the consistent support from Dantri and its readers at every stage of Vu's recovery.
