The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said northern Vietnam would face a heatwave on September 3, with maximum temperatures generally at 35-36 degrees Celsius and above 36 degrees Celsius in some places.
The area from Thanh Hoa to Danang, along with the eastern part of Quang Ngai Province, is also expected to see hot weather, with some areas experiencing severe heat. Maximum temperatures will generally range from 35-37 degrees Celsius, exceeding 37 degrees Celsius in some places.
The weather agency said the heat across northern Vietnam, from Thanh Hoa to Danang and the eastern part of Quang Ngai Province, was likely to ease gradually from September 4.
Prolonged hot weather could heighten the risk of explosions and fires in residential areas, particularly as electricity demand rises. People working outdoors for long periods also face a risk of dehydration and exhaustion when exposed to high temperatures.
The agency noted that forecast temperatures in bulletins and actual perceived temperatures outdoors could differ by 2-4 degrees Celsius, or even more depending on surface conditions such as concrete and asphalt roads.

While heat is blanketing many inland areas, Storm Saudel continues to operate over the East Sea.
On the evening of September 2, the storm's centre was located over waters to the north-east of the northern East Sea. Maximum winds near the eye reached force 8, or 62-74kph, with gusts up to force 10.
The storm is moving north-east at about 5-10kph. By the evening of September 3, its centre is forecast to remain over waters to the north-east of the northern East Sea, maintaining force 8 winds with gusts up to force 10.
The storm is expected to move north-north-east before shifting westwards.
By the evening of September 4, Storm Saudel is forecast to weaken into a tropical depression, with force 6 winds and gusts up to force 8, over waters to the south-east of Guangdong Province, China. Under its influence, waters to the north-east of the northern East Sea will see force 6-7 winds, gusting to force 8-9, with waves of 3-5 metres.
In waters near the storm's path, winds will reach force 8 with gusts up to force 10, while waves will rise to 4-6 metres, causing very rough seas.
The weather agency warned that vessels operating in hazardous waters could be affected by thunderstorms, whirlwinds, strong winds and high waves, and should closely monitor the storm's developments.
