Dantri Newspaper inaugurates classroom and five homes for the poor in Cao Bang Province on May 29.
The Nam Puc school site, located in a remote area of Thach Lam Commune, now includes a fully equipped classroom, a hygienic restroom and a kitchen for semi-boarding students. The total construction cost amounted to VND 620 million (approximately USD 24,400), entirely funded by donations from Dantri readers.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Dantri Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Xuan Toan expressed gratitude for the generous support of readers who contributed to the school and the five new homes for disadvantaged households in the area.

Toan noted that the Nam Puc School is deep within the forested mountains and difficult to access due to a lack of paved roads. Previously, the site had no electricity, no toilets, no phone signal, and insufficient classrooms. "From now on, the children won't have to fear the rain. Teachers will also face fewer challenges in caring for them," he said.

“Local residents are overjoyed that their children can benefit from a facility supported by Dantri and its readers. The construction process was fast and cost-effective,” he said.
During the ceremony, Dantri representatives also awarded 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students at Thach Lam kindergarten, sponsored by reader donations.

Regarding the five newly built houses, Toan remarked, “These homes may be modest in size, but they mark a turning point for these families. Many previously lived in dilapidated shelters at risk of collapse.”
“With a safe home in place, we hope local authorities will continue supporting these families to build a stable and prosperous life,” he added.

Dantri also presented housewarming gifts worth VND 1 million (approximately USD 40) each to the five recipient families.
Mai Thi Huong, one of the beneficiaries, shared her joy: “My 74-square-metre home is fully equipped and cost over VND 200 million (approximately USD 7,870). Thanks to readers’ donations and our own contribution, my family now has a proper place to call home.”
To date, thanks to nationwide donations from readers, individuals and philanthropists, Dantri has initiated the construction of 57 classrooms in underprivileged mountainous areas, 54 of which have been completed, and built 130 houses for disadvantaged families, with 108 already handed over.
