According to the department, the three officials, Nguyen Minh Thai, Dang Quoc Thinh, and Nguyen Van Hoang, landed in Myanmar and joined the ASEAN delegation before heading to different localities on April 1 to assist in post-earthquake recovery efforts.

Nguyen Van Hoang was assigned to Nay Pyi Taw, Dang Quoc Thinh to Sagaing, and Nguyen Minh Thai to Mandalay, the hardest-hit area, following the March 28 earthquake in Myanmar.
These officials will primarily focus on co-ordination, information synthesis, and facilitating international aid efforts.
ASEAN has established the ASEAN Emergency Response and Assessment Team (ASEAN-ERAT), which has been actively contributing to regional disaster management co-operation since 2011.
The ASEAN-ERAT mechanism has demonstrated ASEAN’s continuous commitment to timely disaster response through expert teams and as a reflection of humanitarian values, solidarity, and co-operation in humanitarian relief efforts.
The Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention, under the directive of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, plays a key role in co-ordinating international co-operation in disaster management and has been actively involved in this mechanism.
Following the recent earthquake, Myanmar declared an emergency in six severely affected areas, including Mandalay, Sagaing, Magway, Shan State, Nay Pyi Taw, and Bago.
Meanwhile, the earthquake has also caused significant damage in Thailand and posed serious risks to lives, public health, and property across a wide area. The affected provinces include Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lamphun, Lampang, Mae Hong Son, Phrae, Nan, Phetchabun, Phitsanulok, Sukhothai, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan, Samut Sakhon, Chai Nat, and Ang Thong.
A 106-member rescue team from Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defense and Ministry of Public Security has also carried out search and rescue operations in Myanmar earthquake sites since March 31.
