A group of young people in HCM City have made three Christmas trees from 9,000 condoms to call on people to fight against HIV/AIDS.

The Flower box Orchid shop's Christmas for HIV/AIDS-infected children programme received a good response from the HCMC HIV/AIDS Association, and will call for charity organisations and philanthropists to support unfortunate children.
The two trees that are being displayed at their stores on Hai Ba Trung Street and Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street are made from 1,500 condoms each, while another on Dinh Tien Hoang Street is made from 6,000. The three trees will be displayed from December 1-24.
Spokesperson Nguyen Thi Hong Yen said they hoped to raise people's awareness about HIV/AIDS via the Christmas trees.
"We hope people will practice safe sex so they will not transmit diseases to children, and infected people will be more able to integrate into society." she said.
Although they can only work on the trees when the shops didn't have customers and late at night, they completed the trees in a week with contribution from 20 people, from florist to delivery people.
"At first we felt very embarrassed, but it’s for the good cause, for unfortunate children that we have met." Yen said.
