A ceremony was held in the central province of Quang Tri Province this morning, May 8, to receive 26 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who died in Laos.

The ceremony at Lao Bao International Border Gate saw the participation of the two-country agency representatives.

26 sets of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who died in Laos handed over to Quang Tri Province

The remains were retrieved in the Lao province of Savannakhet by Search Team 584 under the Military High Command of Quang Tri. The team reported on May 3 that identities of remains are still unknown.

The remains were then taken to national war cemetery in Dong Ha City for burial.

Quang Tri and Savannakhet Province agreed to continue accelerating search and collection of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and experts who lost their lives in battlefields in Laos during the 2019-2020 dry season, in accordance with the agreement between the two governments.

This was the 33rd handover of remains of Vietnamese voluntary soldiers to Quang Tri from Laos.
