The Government has spent VND700 billion (USD33.44 million) on preparations for the elections of National Assembly and People’s Councils on May 22.

Of the sum, VND635.7 billion (USD30.37 million) has been allocated to local governments, VND25.5 billion (USD1.2 million) to central agencies and the rest has been set aside for miscellaneous expenses.
The Ministry of Finance said supplementary funding may be delivered to local governments in 63 cities and provinces nationwide before the election day upon their proposals.
As many as 91,438 points of ballot will be staged across the country on the election day.
Between 4,000 and 5,000 state officials will be on hand in each locality to provide logistics support.
According to unofficial statistics, 827 people have run for the office of National Assembly Deputy nationwide.
In the meantime, 5,965 candidates have been short-listed for representatives of provincial People’s Councils. However, only 3,832 of them will be selected.
