Two tourists swept away in Lao Cai stream accident

Rescue teams are searching for a missing tourist after two visitors were swept away in a stream in Lao Cai Province, with one body already recovered.

The incident occurred at about 11 am on June 3 in a stream area in Cat Cat Village, Ta Van Commune, Lao Cai Province.

After receiving reports of the accident, Nguyen Xuan Tuan, deputy director of the Lao Cai Provincial Police, travelled to the scene to oversee search and rescue operations.

At around 1.30 pm on June 3, rescue teams recovered the body of a 31-year-old female tourist from Hanoi.

Authorities are continuing efforts to locate the second missing victim.

According to police, the search operation has been complicated by deep water, strong currents and challenging terrain. The area is also strewn with rocks and surrounded by dense vegetation, making rescue efforts particularly difficult.
