According to the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, HCM City CDC worked with the Tan Son Nhat Airport and related parties on April 27 to give the first doses of vaccine to 2,000 staff who often come into contact with passengers and luggage.

Gia Lai Province CDC also started giving Covid-19 vaccines to 127 staff of Pleiku Airport and 86 people from other firms working at the airport.

Pleiku Airport serves about 22 flights a day with 3,000 passengers. The vaccination will help protect both the staff and passengers, especially for the Reunification Day and May Day holiday period.

General Director of Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Dinh Viet Thang proposed to quickly vaccinate the airport staff. According to Thang, the airport staff often has to be in close contact with the passengers and their luggage so the risk of viral infection is high.

People who work in the check-in area, cargo service staff, pilots, flight attendants and air traffic controllers will all be vaccinated.
