The Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee has approved an estimated VND 15.6 billion (USD 601,000) to compensate, support and resettle residents affected by site clearance for the western coastal road project on Phu Quoc Island.
The funding will come entirely from the provincial budget and cover the project period from 2025 to 2029.

The Phu Quoc Special Zone People's Committee is the project's investor.
The road has been identified as an important transport and infrastructure project on the island.
The project has a total investment of about VND 3.2 trillion (USD 123.2 million), funded by the An Giang provincial budget, and is scheduled to be implemented from 2025 to 2029.
The project's roads will have a combined length of about 4.37km. The main section will be more than 3.5km long, running from the intersection with Tran Phu Street to its junction with DT.975B on the Duong Dong-Cua Can-Ganh Dau route.
The project will also include three connecting branches, helping complete the road network in western Phu Quoc.
The road will be built to urban road standards, with four motor-vehicle lanes and two lanes for non-motorised traffic.
It will have a 30-metre-wide carriageway and a design speed of 50km/h. Once completed, the road is expected to improve connectivity across western Phu Quoc while creating conditions for land development and the expansion of urban areas, services and tourism.
