Border guards in Dong Thap Province have arrested a Cambodian national suspected of organising and facilitating illegal cross-border travel after a Philippine woman was intercepted while allegedly attempting to enter Cambodia unlawfully.
The Dong Thap Border Guard Command announced on September 12 that it had detained Yie Nu, born in 1993 and residing in Cambodia's Prey Veng Province, for investigation on suspicion of organising and brokering illegal exits and entries.

The case began on the evening of September 7, when local residents alerted authorities to two individuals suspected of preparing for an illegal border crossing near Coi Dai Bridge in Thuong Lac Ward.
At around 6.30 pm, border guards arrived at the scene and discovered a man and a woman preparing to launch a small motorised boat onto the So Thuong River, approximately 200 metres west of the bridge.
When officers ordered the vessel to stop for inspection, the man reportedly jumped into the river and swam toward Cambodia. The woman was taken to Cau Muong Border Guard Station for questioning.
Authorities identified her as Lasala Salvacion, a 62-year-old Philippine national.
According to investigators, Salvacion told officers that she had been transported by a Cambodian man on a motorcycle from Hong Ngu Ward to Coi Dai Bridge in an attempt to cross illegally into Cambodia.
Based on her testimony and subsequent investigations, border guards identified the boat operator as Yie Nu.
On September 8, authorities received information that Yie Nu had illegally re-entered Vietnam and was attempting to travel through Hong Ngu Ward before crossing a ferry route toward Long Khanh Commune.
Border guard forces established checkpoints and successfully apprehended the suspect.
Police in Dong Thap Province are continuing their investigation into the case.
