The North-South Expressway in Nghe An Province is closed to ensure safety as Typhoon Kajiki nears on August 25.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that at 1pm, Kajiki’s centre was packing winds of 134–149 km/h, gusting up to 16 on the Beaufort scale, off the coasts of Ha Tinh and Nghe An. The storm is moving west-northwest at 15 km/h and is expected to make landfall within hours.
On the morning of August 25, Nghe An chairman Le Hong Vinh issued an urgent order prohibiting all non-essential movement from 11 am to ensure public safety.

By early afternoon, Ha Tinh Power Company said storm damage to power lines and poles had left more than 28 communes without electricity, with repairs hampered as the storm made landfall.

Mai Van Khiem, head of the forecasting centre, warned that Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An and Thanh Hoa could face waves of 5–7 metres. Kajiki is forecast to strike northern Ha Tinh and Nghe An between 3 pm and 4 pm, with winds above level 11–12, gusting to 14–15.
