New Dantri/DTiNews school building opened in Thai Nguyen

Japan's Shinnyo-en Buddhist organisation continues to co-operate with Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion and Dantri/DTiNews Newspaper to open a new building for disadvantaged pupils in Thai Nguyen Province.
This is Dantri/DTiNews' 15th educational construction built in Thai Nguyen and the fourth with Shinnyo-en's contribution. The classrooms for the Nga My 1 Primary School were opened on December 8.
Dantri's Editor-in-chief Pham Huy Hoan, Chairman of Thai Nguyen Association for Promoting Education Le Duy Vi and Shinnyo-en's organisational consultant Shimada Hideki attended the ceremony with Vice Chairman of Phu Binh District Thai Quang Hai, Nga My 1 Primary School headmaster Vu Thi Phuong and the school teachers and pupils.

Construction has been ongoing since August with six rooms covering 232 square metres. It cost VND1.1bn (USD48,500) in which Shinnyo-en contributed USD12,000. Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion and Vietnam Investment Review Newspaper donated VND60m for school equipment.

Dantri's Editor-in-chief Pham Huy Hoan said Dantri Newspaper and Shinnyo-en had worked together for nine years to bring support to disadvantaged but academically-successful pupils. Shinnyo-en donated funds for the construction of three bridges in Ha Nam, Ha Tinh and Bac Giang provinces. They also donated to build a primary school in Nghe An Province.
"We've built bridges to improve pupil safety and classrooms to better their learning environment. We’re honoured to be here with local authorities and teachers and pupils to attend the opening ceremony," he said.

He also expressed gratitude to Shinnyo-en on behalf of Dantri, Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion and Vietnam Association for Promoting Education.

Shimada Hideki said the founders of Shinnyo-en wanted to contribute to a peaceful and happy world. He was glad to see the new construction completed after collaborating with Vietnam Fund for Learning Promotion since 2010. He hoped the pupils would have a happy time learning in the new rooms and contribute to the country and the world when they grow up.
