The Ministry of Construction has ordered emergency repairs to landslide-hit sections of Mimosa Pass and parts of National Highway 20 in Lam Dong Province, with work to reopen a temporary route before November 30 and permanent reinforcement completed by February 15, 2026.
The order was issued to Project Management Unit 85 (PMU 85), requiring a 24-hour on-site presence to finish emergency works in time for the Tet holiday. Once the emergency repairs are done, permanent reinforcement must begin immediately under the same directive.
PMU 85 had proposed building a viaduct over the landslide area and shifting the road alignment downslope to straighten the affected section. The estimated cost is VND 28 billion (USD 1.1 million).
In addition to Mimosa Pass, the ministry has directed PMU 85 to accelerate remaining upgrades along National Highway 20, aiming for completion in 2025 so the project can be handed over to local authorities.
Launched in January 2023, the project includes improvements to Mimosa Pass, the replacement or repair of nine bridges and construction of two culverts. To date, seven bridges and both culverts are completed and in use. The final two bridges, Dai Nga and Dai Ninh, have their main structures finished; contractors are now completing the approach roads.
