The programme, administered through World University Service, is supported by the Hessian Ministry of Science and the Arts to assist Vietnamese students.

Each scholarship, worth EUR 216 (approximately USD 250), is aimed at supporting students facing financial difficulties, helping them improve their academic performance and daily living conditions.

Bui Cong Tho, chief representative of the Hessen Office in Vietnam, said the initiative has provided meaningful support to Vietnamese students for the past 35 years, while also opening opportunities for further study in Germany.

German language programmes have been introduced in several schools in Danang, which has also hosted the GBA Oktoberfest Vietnam, the country’s largest annual celebration of German culture, since 2023.

In 2025, various activities were held to mark 50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Germany, as well as the 30th anniversary of the German Business Association in Vietnam.

With around 50,000 students, Danang University is one of Vietnam’s leading centres for education, research and technology transfer. It is being developed into an international university, with the Vietnam UK Institute for Research and Executive Education serving as a core component under its long term development plan.

The institution, which includes seven member universities, is expected to play a key role in providing high quality human resources for the central and Central Highlands regions and the broader national education system.

Following its merger with the former Quang Nam Province, Danang has attracted 28 German invested projects with total capital of about USD 700 million.
