Heavy rains forecasted to soak northern Vietnam

The northern region of Vietnam is set to experience a cold spell along with rains this weekend.

According to the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold weather will start affecting northern localities on April 5-7. Northwestern localities are expected to see the heaviest rainfall.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported that cold air is likely to be more active than usual during the first ten days of April, before gradually weakening thereafter.

The cold weather may bring strong winds and high waves, impacting maritime activities and offshore fishing operations.

In March, three cold spells hit Vietnam’s northern region, causing severe and damaging cold in many areas.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting has predicted that hotter weather this summer will arrive later and be less intense than in previous years.
