Dong Nai proposes building three bridges to link HCM City

Authorities of the southern province of Dong Nai have proposed the construction of three bridges to connect with HCM City.

Under the recommendation sent to the HCM City People’s Committee, Dong Nai 2, Phu My 2 and Cat Lai bridges will be built across Dong Nai River for connecting the two localities.

Cat Lai Bridge will start from Nguyen Thi Dinh Street, about 400 metres from the My Thuy Intersection and end at the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway in Nhon Trach District. The entire project will cover 11 kilometres with Cat Lai Bridge itself spanning more than 3 kilometres.

Cat Lai Bridge project will have a total investment of VND19.3 trillion (USD741 million), including VND10.3 trillion for site clearance and the construction of the connecting road from behind the Cat Lai Toll Station to the junction with the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway.

The Dong Nai 2 Bridge project will begin at the Go Cong Junction with Ring Road 3 in Long Thanh My Ward in HCM City’s Thu Duc City and end at National Highway 51 in Tam An Commune in Dong Nai. It is designed with six lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for rudimentary vehicles. Dong Nai authorities have proposed deviding the project three component parts.

Meanwhile, Phu My 2 Bridge will extend from Nguyen Huu Tho Street in District 7, HCM City, to Road 25C in Phuoc Khanh Commune in Dong Nai’s Nhon Trach District. It will have six lanes for motor vehicles and two lanes for non-motorised vehicles. The project been proposed to be divided three component parts.

At present, Dong Nai is linked to HCM City only through Dong Nai and Long Thanh bridges. Meanwhile, Nhon Trach and Phuoc Khanh bridges are still under construction.
