On March 23, many passers by witnessed an abnormal fishing scene at Truc Bach Lake, Hanoi. What’s abnormal about the scene is the fish were already dead before being brought out of the water.
Thousands of fishes continue to die and cover the whole lake with white patches. The rotten smell of dead fishes, following the wind that has been swirling around in the air, caused discomfort for many people.

Most dead fishes were chub fish. The cause is believed to be a lack of oxygen in the water and the water is too polluted. Chub fishes are not known to easily adapt with new environmental conditions.
