According to initial reports, at around 11.30 am today, May 21, a man wearing a hooded shirt smashed a reinforced glass door and broke into a transaction office of Eximbank in Ward 11, Vung Tau City. He threatened bank staff with a knife before fleeing with a tray of cash.

After grabbing the cash, he tried to flee but was quickly chased by a security guard. Some police officers were patrolling the area at that time and joined the guard.

The robber was then apprehended and was identified as Duong Ngoc Duy, 38, from Vung Tau City. At the police station, he admitted to robbing the bank to pay off a large debt.
