According to CAAV, since the Covid-19 pandemic has continued worldwide, the number of planes that must stay idle has continued to increase which may damage the planes. In order to minimise damage, airlines must make sure to have plans to use their planes alternatively so that no plane stay idle for over a month.

If any plane must be grounded for over a month for repair and is not safe, the airlines must report to the CAAV for approval. Regular maintenance cases are excluded. The airlines were also asked to carry out maintenance and update information about the regulations on maintaining grounded planes.

The Flight Safety Standard Department was asked to work with the airlines and maintenance service providers to increase inspections and suitable measures to protect the planes under the weather condition in Vietnam.

Vietnamese airlines are operating over 200 planes. Due to Covid-19, a large number of planes are grounded and used alternatively. Most of the planes are flying inbound trips and some are used as cargo planes.
