Petrovietnam said on March 11 that the LNG carrier, operated by its subsidiary PetroVietnam Gas Corporation (PV GAS), docked at the Thi Vai LNG Terminal in Tan Phuoc Ward on March 10, carrying about 63,000 tonnes of LNG, equivalent to roughly 87 million standard cubic metres of natural gas.

The cargo is PV GAS’s first LNG import shipment of 2026. The company arranged the supply and signed contracts early, with the cargo loaded on February 26 before completing its international voyage to Vietnam.
Notably, the vessel departed the Middle East and passed through the Strait of Hormuz before military tensions escalated in the region, ensuring the journey was not disrupted as the area becomes a geopolitical flashpoint.
Petrovietnam said the successful arrival underscores the role of PV GAS and the group in proactively securing energy supplies amid volatility in global energy markets.
The LNG will be regasified at the Thi Vai LNG terminal and supplied to power plants, helping ensure fuel for Vietnam’s national power system as energy demand continues to rise.
