The 500-kilogramme bomb is found in Nghe An Province on July 4.

The device was found by the family of Dau Thi Nghi while renovating their garden for planting on July 4. It was buried 3.5 metres underground, just 50 metres from nearby homes, with its detonator still intact, posing a serious safety risk due to its high explosive potential.

Authorities identified the bomb as a foreign-made MK83 demolition device, measuring 2.17 metres in length and 0.4 metres in diameter. Military engineers confirmed it was the largest bomb ever discovered in the area.

In a joint operation involving provincial and local defence forces, military specialists successfully disarmed the detonator and transported the bomb to a remote mountainous area in Thanh Linh Commune, where it was safely destroyed later the same day.

The operation was completed without incident, ensuring the safety of all personnel, equipment, and surrounding residents.
