The 150-kilogramme crocodile caught appearcing on Tu Chay Canal
According to local authorities, a resident in Tan Thanh Commune reported seeing the reptile emerge from the waters of Tu Chay Canal on Thursday.
In response, the People’s Committee of Tan Thanh Commune issued a safety advisory urging residents to avoid the area, refrain from swimming, and not to place fishing nets in the canal. Authorities also called on the public to immediately report any further sightings so appropriate safety measures can be implemented.
Earlier this year in neighbouring Tien Giang Province, a 10-kilogramme crocodile was seen surfacing briefly on Rach Tram River in Cai Lay District before submerging again upon being noticed by locals.
