After the morning classes, many students from Tran Nhan Tong High School drove motorbikes in pairs or triples without helmets.
Many parents also transport more people than allowed.
Traffic violations around Le Van Thiem High School in Long Bien District
According to the Hanoi Traffic Police Department, the department handled approximately 8,000 traffic violations involving students in October and temporarily seized 3,500 vehicles. Around 450 parents and vehicle owners were fined for allowing unqualified individuals to operate their vehicles during the month. The police also verified and sent a list of more than 3,000 students involved in traffic violations to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.
The Traffic Police Department has proposed raising penalties by 4-5 times for allowing unqualified individuals to operate vehicles. The police will seize vehicles if drivers behave recklessly like weaving through. Criminal prosecution has also been proposed for those who allow unqualified individuals to drive, causing serious traffic accidents.
