Many islands in Co To opened for tourism

More pristine small islands in Co To District in the northern province of Quang Ninh are being opened up for tourism development.

The Co To District People's Committee has issued a pilot plan for organising water-based recreational activities and island tours.

Under the scheme, the district will launch eight island tour routes, connecting destinations endowed with unspoiled natural beauty, such as Co To Con Island, Carp Islet (Hon Ca Chep), Lion Islet (Hon Su Tu), Seven Stars Islet (Hon Bay Sao), Southeast Islet (Hon Dong Nam), Thanh Lan Island, and Tran Island.

Island tours will prioritise absolute safety, environmental protection, and the preservation of the area's natural beauty and ecosystems.

Local authorities will comprehensively evaluate the pilot plan's implementation for learned lessons by late next year.

According to Le Ngoc Han, Chairwoman of the Co To People's Committee, the scheme aims to turn the district into a year-round destination with diverse tourism products. The district also plans to develop additional public spaces to enhance tourism and boost the nighttime economy.

Local businesses are encouraged to use popular online platforms, including Agoda and Booking.com, for tourism development.
