According to the Lao Cai Provincial People’s Committee, Typhoon Bualoi has left 10 people dead or missing, injured nine others, and caused thousands of houses to be unroofed or flooded. The province has estimated losses of VND 2.75 trillion (USD 110 million).

Meanwhile, Typhoon Matmo has caused many landslides and damaged houses in Lao Cai, resulting in a loss of billions of VND.

Amid the situation, the Lao Cai People’s Committee has issued a decision to cancel the Muong Lo Culture and Tourism Festival 2025 and reschedule the Discovery of Mu Cang Chai Terraced Fields to take place later this month.

The Lao Cai Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism previously suspended tours and travel routes to areas affected by consecutive storms to prevent potential risks, including destinations such as Sa Pa, Y Ty, Mu Cang Chai, and Nghia Lo.
