The Southern Regional Hydrometeorological Centre forecast scattered showers and thunderstorms across Ho Chi Minh City and other southern localities on October 29.

Rainfall is expected to intensify, with moderate to heavy downpours mainly affecting northern parts of the southeastern region and eastern coastal areas of the Mekong Delta, particularly around midday, in the afternoon and early evening.
Temperatures are forecast to range from 24-27 degrees Celsius overnight to 31-34 degrees during the day.
The centre said peak tidal levels at most monitoring stations along the Saigon River had risen sharply over the past 24 hours, driven by the ninth lunar month's full-moon tide.
As of 7 am on October 28, water levels reached 1.78 metres at Thu Dau Mot station, 0.18 metres above the third-level flood warning threshold. Levels at Nha Be and Phu An stations stood at 1.62 metres and 1.60 metres, exceeding the same threshold by 0.13 metres and 0.08 metres, respectively.
Tides were forecast to rise further on the afternoon of October 28, with peak levels of 1.72-1.77 metres at Phu An and Nha Be, exceeding the third-level warning threshold by 0.12-0.17 metres.
At Thu Dau Mot, water levels were expected to reach 1.79-1.83 metres, or 0.19-0.23 metres above the third-level threshold.
Peak tides were expected between 6 pm and 8 pm. Although water levels would then gradually recede, tidal peaks were forecast to remain between the second- and third-level warning thresholds through October 31.
The centre warned of flooding in low-lying and riverside areas, potentially disrupting transport, daily life and economic activities across Ho Chi Minh City.
